Zoe Dionyssiou is Associate Professor of Music Education at the Department of Music Studies, Ionian University, Greece. She is the Director of the MA Program “Music Education in Schools and the Community” at the Ionian University, academic co-ordinator of the Post-graduate Training Program “Music in Early Childhood Education” (Centre for Life Long Learning, Ionian University) and academic co-ordinator of the Ionian Summer Academy in the field of music education. She coordinates a series of community music educational programs organized by Ionian University (Music Education Program for babies and toddlers, interdisciplinary educational programs in museums, art galleries, libraries, Community music in prisons, etc). She is co-editor of the scientific journal Musical Pedagogics (published by the Greek Society for Music Education). She is co-author in three books (Early Childhood Music Education in the Mediterranean, 2017; For a Sound-Based Education: Listening, Understanding and Co-creating the Soundscape we live in, 2019; A Journey to Rebetiko for young readers and adults, 2022). She is the scientific co-ordinator of two digital platforms / Repositories of music pedagogical content (“Euterpe - Digital Music Anthology”, “Singing Greek with Mariza Koch's songs”) and she has published extensively in scientific journals, edited volumes and conference proceedings. Some of her main research interests include early childhood music education, folk musics in education, interdisciplinary music and art programs, and children’s traditional singing games. She serves as a Commissioner in the Early Childhood Music Education Commission (ECME) of the International Society for Music Education (ISME) (2022-2028) and as a board member of the Greek National Committee of the International Council of Traditions of Music and Dance (ICTMD).
