Call for Applications for Admission to the Postgraduate Program of the Department of Music Studies in Music Pedagogy

Specialization: Music Education in Schools and the Community

The Department of Music Studies invites all interested candidates to apply electronically for enrollment in the Postgraduate Program for the academic year 2025-2026. Applications must be submitted by September 15, 2025 via the online platform: https://future.ionio.gr/pedagogy

Admission Requirements

Applicants must hold a university degree or equivalent from a Greek Higher Education Institution or an officially recognized equivalent degree from abroad, validated by the Hellenic National Academic Recognition Information Center (DOATAP).

Program Duration and Tuition

The program lasts four semesters: Fall 2025, Spring 2026, Fall 2026, and Spring 2027. Tuition fees amount to €4,000, payable in four equal installments during the first week of each semester.

The course structure and teaching methods do not require permanent residency in Corfu. Classes are held twice weekly (Monday and Tuesday, 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.) via teleconference (zoom), along with one three-day in-person session during the first two semesters, conducted in Corfu.

Entrance Examinations

Entrance exams will take place by September 22, 2025, following an official announcement.

Required Application Documents (to be submitted electronically)

  • a) Application form for the Postgraduate Program in Music Pedagogy in School and Community (completed online).

  • b) Academic degrees and transcripts. For degrees awarded by foreign institutions that operate through franchise agreements with private entities in Greece and are included in DOATAP’s registry, a certificate of the place of study is required. No academic equivalency recognition act is needed for degrees from foreign institutions listed in the National Registry of Recognized Higher Education Institutions.

  • c) Certification of at least B2 level English proficiency. Knowledge of additional foreign languages will be considered. Applicants without language certification will be interviewed by a faculty member of the postgraduate program.

  • d) Detailed curriculum vitae.

  • e) Additional supporting materials, if available, such as work experience, portfolio of musical or music-education activities (concerts, events, lessons, etc.), scientific publications, conference presentations, participation in research projects, etc. (in electronic format).

Applicants must also submit a statement of purpose and a written assignment on a topic of their choice, as described in the examination syllabus document, by September 15, 2025.
