Barbara's Gisler-Haase CV
Barbara Gisler-Haase was born in Vienna. She was encouraged early by her music-loving parents at home, and found her way via the recorder and piano to the transverse flute. She attended the Vienna Grammar School of Music and studied with Werner Tripp at the former Academy for Music and Performing Arts in Vienna.
She won several first prizes in the “Youth Makes Music” competitions. In 1973 she gained her concert diploma with distinction. In 1974 she was a prizewinner in the international “Prague Spring” competition and began teaching at the University for Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. Chamber music has always been at the heart of her artistic engagement: she founded the “Eurasia Quartet”, and was member of the “Vienna Bach Soloists” and the “Vienna Nonet” for many years.1983 saw the founding of the “Vienna
Flautists” ensemble, a unique grouping of transverse flutes, from the contrabass to the piccolo. She has played internationally and recorded more than twelve C.D,s.
Barbara Gisler-Haase is the author of the three-volume “Magic Flute” books and the “Fit for the Flute” series for Universal Edition Vienna.
She is professor of flute at the Vienna University for Music and holds annual master classes.
