Guitar interpreter and teacher, Korina Vougiouka is basically oriented on the connection of the guitar with the wider musical being. Her doctoral in this frame, is entitled: “The guitar in the early 19th century musical being: issues of technique and performance regarding the opera based solo guitar works of Mauro Giuliani and Fernando Sor”. It is an investigation with practical and educational purpose, about the ways the early 19th century guitar repertoire can be approached as an expression of the wider stylistic frame of this period.
Having performed guitar works of a wide range of styles, she has also presented in concerts and recordings chamber music repertoire, with emphasis on the duo guitar-piano. Specifically, she has interpreted many guitar and piano works and she has taken part in more complicated projects of contemporary composers.
Besides her performing and educational activity, she organizes cultural events, which focus on the combination of music with other kinds of arts, as well as in alternative educational methods.
