GENERAL INFORMATION: |
Graduates of Universities or equivalent institutions in Greece or recognized institutions abroad, may be admitted through written examinations, in the undergraduate study programs of the Ionian University Department of Music Studies. Successful candidates are admitted to the first semester of studies within a quota of 30% of the number of regular admissions for the academic year 2026-2027, (approx. 30 students). |
EXAMINATION PROCEDURE: |
1. Melody Harmonization: Harmonization of a 10-16 measure melody for four voices (soprano, alto, tenor and bass) with the soprano provided. Duration: 2 hours. 2. Bass Harmonization: Harmonization of a 10-16 measure passage for four voices with the bass provided and without figured bass indications. Duration: 2 hours. For both subjects, the rules of Harmony apply as examined nationally as a special subject for admission to Departments of Music Studies. 3. Musical Dictation (Dictée): Candidates must notate on a staff, using treble clef and the appropriate key and time signatures, a melody of 8-12 measures dictated at the piano. The first pitch is identified, the entire melody is played, then dictated in two-measure segments according to the procedure described in the official announcement. The examinations are taking place at the Ionian University, Department of Music Studies, Corfu, every year in December. The grading scale ranges from 0 to 20 for each examiner. Each subject is examined by two assessors. The final mark in each subject is the average of the scores awarded by the two assessors. Candidates are successful if they obtain a total score of at least 30 points across the three subjects and score no less than 10 points in any individual subject. Students are informed that, after completion of the admission process, an additional audition/examination for artistic specializations will take place for those wishing to pursue the Music Performance specialization. |
